Getting started

Launching a token

Anyone with a wallet can launch a token on Cru. Launching costs only the network fee. If you also make a creator buy of at least 0.05 ETH, you earn a share of every trade for as long as you hold.

What you need

Connect a wallet on Robinhood Chain with enough ETH for the network fee, plus whatever you want to spend on your creator buy. Then fill in the form on the Launch page.

FieldRules
ImageRequired. PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP, up to 4 MB.
NameUp to 32 characters.
TickerUp to 12 characters.
DescriptionOptional, up to 600 characters.
LinksOptional website, X and Telegram links. Each must start with https://
Creator buyOptional ETH amount, bought in the launch transaction.

The launch happens in a single transaction. Your wallet asks you to sign in first, then the image and details are saved, then you confirm the launch.

What every token gets

  • A fixed supply of 1 billion tokens. Nobody can mint more, including you. The supply can only go down, when tokens are burned.
  • 800 million tokens on a bonding curve. They are sold to buyers at a price that rises with every buy.
  • 200 million tokens held for the pool. At graduation they go into a Uniswap V4 pool with the ETH the curve raised.
  • The same rules as every other Cru token. The fee, the crew and the buyback work the same way for every launch, and you cannot change them.

The creator buy

The creator buy is ETH you send with the launch. It buys tokens from your own curve in the same transaction that creates the token, so no one can buy ahead of you. It pays the normal 1% fee but no snipe tax.

Your creator buy also puts you in the crew, like any other buyer on the curve. On those tokens you earn the crew share as well as the creator share.

Example
A 0.05 ETH creator buy on a new token
You send
0.05 ETH
1% trading fee
0.0005 ETH
Snipe tax
None
Tokens you receive
About 36.4 million

That is about 3.6% of the supply. The exact amount is shown on the launch form before you confirm.

There is no upper limit on the creator buy. A creator buy large enough to buy all 800 million curve tokens graduates the token in the launch transaction, with the creator as the only crew member.

Earning the creator fee

Every trade pays a 1% fee, and 35% of that fee is the creator share. That is 0.35% of every buy and sell, on the curve and in the pool, for the life of the token.

  • You qualify with a creator buy of at least 0.05 ETH. The launch form tells you whether your amount qualifies before you confirm.
  • Skip it, or buy less, and the creator share is off for good. It can only be switched on in the launch transaction. Buying more later does not switch it on. The creator share then goes to buyback and burn on every trade.
  • Your creator share follows your crew tokens. These are the tokens your launch wallet bought on the curve. If you sell or transfer part of them, your creator share shrinks by the same fraction, and the same fraction of your unclaimed creator fees goes to buyback and burn. Sell half and you earn 0.175% of each trade from then on. Sell all of them and the whole creator share goes to buyback and burn.
  • Creator fees follow the same claim rule as the crew. You can claim them from 24 hours after the token graduates.

The creator share belongs to the wallet that launched the token, and it depends only on the crew tokens held in that wallet. It can shrink over time but never grow back.

After you launch

Your token appears on the Explore page and trading opens on the bonding curve right away. For the first 5 seconds, buyers pay a snipe tax. See Buying and selling for how trading works, and Graduation for what happens when the curve sells out.
